Andree

Andree Special

The Andree Special was built by Charles Nerpel from California. It had the honour to be the first home grown car in the US (the second being Harry Morrow) and was completed in 1957. Unusually, the body was made from glass fibre, a new material at the time. The chassis was by multi tubular longerons with hooped sections around the cockpit. Front suspension came from a VW Beetle, hence the wide but low shape while the rear used a swing axle. Engine and gearbox were Triumph.

The Andree's first run as reported in Sports Car Journal, October 1957.
