Alan Rogers |
At Croft in September he took a win over Charlie Headland and was second to Lones at Prescott on the 10th and fifth at Shelsley on the 22nd. Castle Combe in October brought a fifth in the final but closing Brands meeting on the 14th was mixed, a win in the Open Challenge heat but a DNF in the final, a second in the Brands Hatch Championship heat but nothing from the final and finally second in the Championship of the Meeting race. For 1951, he acquired a new Cooper Mk V to take third at Brough to Don Parker and Jackie Reece then a win and a third at Gamston in May but shed a chain while challenging for the podium at the same venue in July. At Croft on the 28th Alan took a second in his heat to Collins' JBS but did not feature in the final then, at flooded Brands for the Daily Telegraph meeting, he managed second in the International final to Bill Whitehouse. |
Shelsley in September brought a respectable seventh fastest time but Brough proved disappointing, two respectable heat performances but nothing from the finals. Rogers won at his local Rhydymwyn on 13th October to end the year well. Thereafter he seems to have moved on, perhaps due to this note from Autosport, June 1951, Allan's final appearance was winning again and taking outright FTD at Rhydymwyn in March 1952.
