Poul Rasmussen was born in Karlebo, in March 1914 and became a multiple champion in his native Denmark. Poul won at Roskildering July 1955 in his Cooper but things really got going in 1956 when he won five times at Roskildering; July, August in the Alfa-Dana, twice September and finally in October. He also won at Skive in August and was forth in the Lilla Indianapolis, Sweden to become Danish Champion. 1957 wasn't quite so successful, Poul finishing third at Roskildering in April, second to Gunnar Henriksen in June, fourth at Falkenberg, Sweden, in July, second on aggregate at Roskildering in August before winning again in the second race on the 25th of that month and again in September. Two further wins in October still left him behind Gunnar. 1958 saw wins at Kostbrob in May, Fargelbarn and Hobro in June, followed by three victories at Roskildering to retake the championship The 1959 Roskildering victories were in April, May and October plus a second in June, third in the Copenhagen Cup and a fourth in September to retain his championship. He also returned to Sweden to win at Falkenberg in July.
