Shelsley Walsh 28th July 2012

The day was glorious with a warm sun and blue skies, all leading to a grippy surface and all round perfect conditions for our small band of 5. It seems there had been a mis-understanding about dates, so much so that Mark Riley only arrived at lunch time after a concerned telephone call from Alistair! Non-the-less, helping hands quickly got the car ready in time for the afternoon timed runs. Thanks must go to the organisers for taking his previous event runs from early June in lieu of practice.

The practice runs went well for everyone, with only the smallest of adjustments needed to a couple of the cars. Times were acceptable, and in the absence of hot shoe drivers Alistair and Mark, it was Alan who led the way at the end of practice.

With Mark now with us, determination was high to put on a good show. Tim was revelling in a reliable car and continued to take great lumps off his time, as did Ted. Alan was not to happy with his first run, even though he was still second behind Mark, but at least knew where he had lost time.

The final run of the day saw good drives by all. Mark’s experience pulled him well clear, Alan had a storming drive to leap into the 41 second bracket, Ted had a moment at the esses but his first timed run still gave him third overall on the day.

Back in the paddock, Tim and Ted packed for home wishing they had entered for the Sunday as well, and the rest of us moved garages to the other end of the paddock in preparation for a second of activity.
