Castle Combe 25th July 2015

This well organised event put on by the Bristol Motor Club welcomed four cars to the wide-open spaces of Wiltshire. We were lucky to fall into a window of sunshine and warmth with fluffy white clouds all day long. Our paddock position was perfect for an easy passage to the start line and we were ushered straight through for each run, splendid!

Everyone had been at the event in 2014 and for three of the company practice was trouble free with a steady reduction in times. Mike's magneto woes continued when the timing slipped badly just after the start on practice one and again partially at the end of practice two. Once again Jan came to the rescue spotting the sprocket nut was bottoming out on the taper and re-timing the engine again.

The afternoon timed runs commenced again under ideal conditions. The first run saw healthy improvements for Jan and Ted whilst Tim lopped over 6 seconds from his practice efforts. Yet again Mike re-appeared on the end of a tow rope as the HT lead had detached from the magneto!

The final run of the day thankfully saw all four drivers record times and the meeting drew to a close at around 4.30 meaning we could load for the trip home nice and early.
