Prescott 24th May 2015

In a day seemingly blighted by magneto problems, 14 entrants converged on Prescott for the BOC’s annual carnival of all things French at their ‘La vie en bleu’ meeting.

A ‘damp under the trees’ first practice concentrated minds to be followed by drizzle and heavy, but short lived, rain before the second practice. Nobody improved their times in the second practice while John Forsyth was the first to succumb to magneto woes, along with Jan Nycz and Charles Reynolds (V-twin) also experiencing electrical gremlins.

After a lunch break featuring much activity on the hill including a display by French motor manufacturers, a steam bus, demonstrations by Bugatti Veyrons, a stunt aircraft and a jet powered bike, runs proper got underway in dry conditions.
Nick Reynolds, Steve Lawrence, Jan Nycz and John Dent completed the top 4, separated by just 1.2 seconds, followed by Mike wood, Ted Sharpe and an uncharacteristically troubled run for Alistair Dent. Everyone improved their times for the second run except John Dent, although the order of the top 3 remained unchanged. John Forsyth was able to take 5th spot as some compensation for struggling with fitting a replacement magneto for 4 hours while Alistair Dent’s woes continued with another magneto failure.
