Kurt Delfosse originally built the DVD (Delfosse Versuch Düsseldorf) car for kleinstrennwagen racing in Germany in 1947. It was front engined and converted to run as a 500 with a Zundapp engine. It was known as the "Flying Saucer" for obvious reasons. Kurt managed a second at Hockenheim in May 1948 but failed to finish at Kōlner Kurs.
