Gianpaulo Volpini is better better known for a series of small sports cars and Formula Juniors which came from his Milan workshop but they built a rather beautiful 500. Suspension followed Cooper practice using lower wishbones and top mounted transverse leaf springs. Originally, a Gilera single cylinder Saturno engine was mounted amidships but it was always intended to take the four cylinder Rondine. Sadly, after much initial fuss, the the multi-cylinder engines never quite produced enough power to overcome the additional size and weight, compared to the Cooper Nortons.
