Prescott 2nd June 2013

Sixteen cars and seventeen drivers assembled on a fine morning on this the second day of a French themed meeting, making us one of the larger classes. Charles and Nick Reynolds were sharing a drive and we welcomed back John Brough, with a car he has owned for a long time. He has been out for several years with other activities.

There was a hive of somewhat feverish activity to get everything ready for the start shortly after 8.30, as we were the first group to practice. However, everyone made it even though the last couple of cars did not arrive until just past 8.00. Back in the paddock there was very little by way of fettling – John Forsyth had the magneto lead fall off causing the engine to stop before the finish line. Second practice also went without any major concerns.

The afternoon runs started well with everyone making it to the top with the exception of Stuart Barnes, whose fuel pump failed before he could get off the line, thus ending his weekend. Some were happy but others felt there was more to come.

The second run was delayed when one of the Bugattis rolled in the esses and it took a little while to extract the driver, thankfully with no major injury. Most managed to improve their times but others were disappointed with their efforts.

Congratulations to Jon Brough on a fine win, showing that he has lost none of his abilities. Does this mean we have a leading group of five or six – time will tell.

Prescott Hill paddock, sunshine and some good company, seems a shame to spoil it by making a racket....
