JBS 500 (In New Zealand)
Built 1952 with chassis number 52/01. Rebuilt in 2010 by ex Brabham/Tyrrell F1 mechanic to very high standard. (See story in “The 500” magazine dated March 2016)
Certified by 500 Owners Ass. as VIF B/1 (Original but non complete history) Can compete at any event run by 500 Owners Ass. in UK or Europe. Raced and hill-climbed in NZ by owner. Has JAP engine rebuilt by ex. UK speedway rider. Has Carrillo rod and new cast crankcases with Amal GP carb. Norton/AMC gearbox with split rear sprocket for easy chain drive ratio changes. Can be started with external electric starter which is very efficient. Car completely as original except for roll bar, six point seat belt and fire extinguisher. Has additional Koni shocks at back which dramatically improve handling. Approved under VIF certification. Full history available along with many photos of early and recent life of car.
