Ewing Norton |
Ron Ewing, a railway engineer from Sydney, Australia competed in a Cooper Mk V before deciding to build his own special which first appears in mid '57. It featured a tubular chassis with transverse leaf and wishbone front suspension at the front, in the Cooper style but using Renault Dauphine uprights and wheels. At the rear was a swing axle suspended by elastic, a single rear disk brake and Renault wheels. Engine and gearbox came from Norton initially but he eventually moved to a radical Harley Davidson based V twin, bored & stroked with Norton ES2 cylinder heads and a supercharger, all engineered by Ron himself. Sadly this engine came to an end while leading at Sandown in the mid 1990s so the car runs now with a Norton again.
