White Lloyd

White Lloyd

Anthony White completed his 500 in 1948, based on a Lloyd backbone chassis, Lloyd being a maker of small engined road cars from Grimsby.White-Lloyd 1.jpg (71512 bytes)

To this, White added parallelogram front suspension and a swing axle at the rear, both sprung by means of transverse leaf springs. The engine was a JAP mounted at the rear. Unfortunately, the backbone chassis meant that the engine, gearbox  and driver sat quite high and the handling was compromised as a result.

A run at Cadwell Park in 1948, probably Whit Monday.

R.L. North at Shelsley Walsh on 12th June 1948

Now fully clothed at Dunholme Lodge, 9th October 1948, where R.L. North finished a respectable fifth.
