Bernard Manning came into Formula 3 in 1954 when he acquired one of the Macksons from Arthur Gill or Peter Braid. He used a JAP engine but still achieved some respectable results including::

Cadwell Park 7th June 1954, 4th in scratch race heat, DNF in final.

Silverstone 21st August 1954 Commander Yorke Trophy, 2nd in JAP race.

Crystal Palace 18th September 1954 Redex Trophy, 2nd in JAP race.

Cadwell Park 10th October 1954, 4th in scratch race, 2nd in handicap race.

For 1955, he chose a Staride, again JAP powered:

Brands Hatch 11th April 1955, 1st in JAP race.

Brands Hatch 1st May 1955, 4th in heat.

Brands Hatch 29th May 1955 Sporting Record Trophy, 4th in heat, 5th in JAP race.

Crystal Palace 30th May 1955 Redex Trophy, 4th in heat.

Brands Hatch 12th June 1955, DNF in Senior Second final, 2nd in Senior Consolation final, 3rd in JAP race.

Brands Hatch 10th July 1955 Sporting Record Trophy, 3rd in Second final, 1st in JAP race.

Aintree 16th July 1955 British Grand Prix, DNF

Crystal Palace 30th July 1955, DNF in Junior race.

Thereafter he appears more sporadically and in a Cooper:

Mallory Park 6th August 1956, 3rd in heat.

Cadwell Park 6th August 1956, 4th in heat, 6th in final.

 

Silverstone 18th May 1957, 6th in race 1.

Mallory Park 22nd June 1957, 3rd in heat, 3rd in final.
