Walter Komossa

Walter Komossa was born in April 1913. In collaboration with Walter Arnold, he built and raced as series of DKW engined Scampolo cars. He was always one of the front runners, winning five races in 1948 and four in 1949 to become West German Champion. Five more wins in 1950 and a win at  Donauringrennen in July 1951 to take the West German Championship again. Further success followed in '52, with wins at Hockenheim in May. Walter was injured during testing in the winter of 1953 and quit racing shortly after. Walter Komossa died in 1987.
