1953 Martin 500. VIF 001 SOLD

Driven to great success from 1995 until last year by Roy Hunt, this Martin Special is one of the Clubs best known cars.

Roy James, one of the Great Train Robbers, appears on the former owners list, which reads like a ‘500 OA Greats’ list; Ray Martin himself, FJ Mays, Roger Mills (Director of Ogle Cars), John Turner, Rob Harper, Pete Wright, Charlie Banyard Smith, amongst a few other less well-known names.

Acquired by Roy Hunt in 1995, following the sale of his Jason, and appearing first at a 750 MC event at Mallory Park on 24th March 1996, and finishing 3rd.

This car must be one of the most prolific in resurgent 500 Club racing, appearing in many events, every year since then. The completed race event list is astonishing with

multiple entries into the Earl of March Trophy at the Goodwood Revival.

The Norton short stroke engine has just returned from a refresh by Andy Molnar who carried out a barrel replacement. It is fitted with the correct AMC gearbox.

The car would benefit from a refresh, service and mechanical overhaul prior to use.

The car is offered with a Brian James two wheel trailer with new wheels and tyres, ramps, spare wheel and new winch. There is a Powerstart battery powered starter, various body parts including nose and tail, and some spares including engine plates, gearbox and clutch parts, front suspension uprights and a fitted car cover.

2 history files come with the car, setting out the cars life which all add to this cars provenance.

The car has a current and valid VIF which just needs new owners details to be notified.

This is a complete racing package of a well known car with provenance and race history over many years.
