ARO

ARO

Arthur Rosenhammer, who later drove for the EMW (Eisenacher Motoren Werke) sports car team, built a 750cc kleinstrennwagen using a BMW engine which was them modified for 500cc racing. The chassis was a light tubular frame with Volkswagen Beetle front suspension, rear suspension, transaxle and wheels.

For some reason which we don't understand, the car was christened the Flying Pencil in England!

Arthur only appears in the car briefly taking a win at Grenzlandring on 19th September 1948 and it appears to have passed to Theo Fitzau for '49.
