Mike Ledbrook

Mike Ledbrook

Mike started competition in 1959 with a Cooper Mk IV but moved up to a later model for 1960 and began to have some success with a second at Rufforth in April, a DNF at Brands Hatch then a fourth at Silverstone in June and sixth at Brands in July and finally eight at Snetterton in October.

In 1961, Mike won at Snetterton on 18th March and at Rufforth on 1st April followed by a second to Jack Pitcher at Mallory on the 16th. Two wins followed at Brands on the 23rd and at Oulton Park on 13th May but he gave best to Jack at Rufforth on the 20th and Cadwell Park on the 22nd. Four more wins followed at Silverstone on 24th June, a brace at Brands on 2nd July and at Linton On Ouse on the 9th July. The 23rd brought a second to Jack at Mallory then a DNF in the Notwen Trophy on the 29th. He took a pair of wins at Snetterton on 13th August and his final win of the year at Brands on the 22nd August. A DNF at Snetterton on 8th October didn't matter as he had enough to take the National Championship from Jack Pitcher and David Rogers.

1962 started with a win at Snetterton on 18th March and a second in the Notwen Trophy at Silverstone then two more wins at Cadwell Park and Castle Combe. Snetterton on 11th June was mixed, a DNF and a second to David Rogers and Silverstone on the 23rd brought another second. Two more wins at Brands on July 1st and 22nd and finally another second at Silverstone on 28th July.
